A 4-year-old girl has beaten the odds and baffled the doctors after defeating cancer despite being given a tiny chance of survival.

Little Isla Caton was diagnosed with a stage four aggressive form of neuroblastoma back in 2017, and her doctors have given her a 4 % chance of making it through.

Desperate to save their daughter’s life, Isla’ parents signed up the 4-year-old for a pioneering type of treatment that took place in Barcelona.

The therapy consisted of both chemotherapy and antibody combination and Isla was the first person in the world to undertake this treatment despite being the fourth on the waiting list.

Fortunately, the revolutionary therapy worked and Isla’s parents were ecstatic to learn that their daughter had beaten cancer.

“When we got the all clear, I just burst into tears, it was the best day of my life. It still hasn’t sunk in, to be honest,” Nicola, Isla’s mother, said.

While the specialists managed to treat the 4-year-old, nothing would be possible without football fans who raised approximately $750,000 for the girl’s treatment. The family’s crowdfunding efforts were also backed up by celebrities such as James Corden and Danny Dyer and the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

“I think people have to make sure that the treatment is taking place in a hospital,” Nicola added, urging other parents in a similar situation to explore their options and resort to crowdfunding to raise money for expensive treatments.

“But there are a lot of options out there not available on the NHS. I was told to take my daughter home and make her comfortable. But we kept going.”

While young Isla is currently cancer-free, she is still undergoing treatment to make sure that cancer doesn’t return. The treatment will feature a vaccine, two additional rounds of chemotherapy, and another antibody treatment.

“Hopefully we’ll return home and be able to start thinking about things like school,” Nicola added. “I just want her to enjoy everything that other children do now.”
