Two women who have been best friends for 17 long years since meeting at school just found out that they are sisters!
29-year-old Toya Wimberly and 31-year-old Ashley Thomas from Pennsylvania have shared a strong bond since they met at school 17 years ago. But they just discovered that they share the same dad!
For years, Thomas has known that her dad is not her biological father. But she was shocked to learn that her best friend’s father, Kenneth Wimberly, is also her dad!
In an interview with Newsweek, Kenneth said: “I was hurt, but also happy to find out that this beautiful and successful young lady was my daughter.”
Local TV channel WPVI-TV reported that the discovery was only made when Toya got engaged.
In some photos shared on social media after the engagement, a woman who was friends with Thomas’ late mother recognized Kenneth.
Kenneth also said that he recognized the woman and they started to connect the dots. After a DNA test, results proved that Thomas was also his daughter.
Speaking about the surprising discovery, Toya said: “My father texted me, ‘Ashley’s your sister’. I just started crying.”
“I’ve been around him all my life and I never once thought he could be my dad,” Ashley added.
Toya wrote on Facebook: “After years of hearing ‘Are y’all sisters?” “Y’all look just alike’ and us just saying ‘NO’ we are just best friends the truth finally aired that we are blood sisters!!!
“That’s why we’re so similar, that’s why we look so alike, that’s why we’ve been inseparable since the 6th grade.”
Aside from discovering they are real sisters, the two have also become pregnant at the same time.
“This is so unbelievable! We share sooooo many memories,” Ashley wrote on Facebook.
“From growing our first borns up together & now growing our business together, I would’ve never [have] thought in a million years my little sister was by my side the whole time.”
