A young woman has shared how she lost all her teeth due to drug addiction, and now she wants to educate others about the dangers of substance abuse.
22-year-old Faith Hill from Missouri was so addicted to methamphetamine her teeth fell apart and she lost a lot of weight, the Daily Star reported.
Faith also lost many of her friends to drugs and she eventually became comfortable living on the streets as long as she had drugs.
“I was on a six-year drug bender on methamphetamines. I was living on the streets, hotels, anywhere I could manage to lay my head at,” she explained in a TikTok video.
“I obviously didn’t take care of my teeth. Well, I thought I did, but I didn’t. And it caused a lot of breakage, a lot of rotting, and I finally got them removed.”
There was a point when Faith got arrested and she tried to commit suicide as she felt ‘miserable’ and ‘hideous.’
But last year, Faith finally managed to get sober after checking into rehab more than five times. She also showed off her beautiful smile with her new set of dentures.
Thousands of people praised her for sharing her inspirational story.
“You are amazing. Thank you for your honesty and congratulations on your recovery,” one person wrote.
“You’re beautiful and congratulations on staying clean,” another commented.
“You deserve nothing but the best,” a third added.
According to American Dental Association, teeth people addicted to meth usually suffer from gum disease and tooth decay.
‘Meth mouth’ is described as being stained, blackened, crumbing, rotting, and falling apart. In most cases, the teeth must be extracted as they cannot be salvaged.
