Alina De Guiseppe became so scared to leave the house after receiving sinister messages and chilling phone calls from different numbers only to find out that it was her partner, 36-year-old Anthony Clarke.

Clarke even vowed to find those responsible for the fake social media accounts, chilling text messages and horrifying phone calls.

One message threatened to throw acid in her face while another reads: “I promise that if you keep ignoring me you will regret it!”

After almost two years of sending sinister texts to Alina, Clarke was finally exposed as the person responsible at Maidstone Crown Court where he cried nonstop.

He was told by the judge that he had “escape going straight to prison by the skin of your teeth” as he was handed a 20-month suspended sentence.

After the hearing, Alina from Maidstone, Kent, said: “We planned to settle down and have a family. We did everything together. It was hard to realise someone you believed loved you and cared about you would do this.”

She said that she was only 18 when she first met Clarke.

“He was very charming, very confident and would flirt not just with me but other people. I was quite young, 18 at the time, and I liked the attention. I thought it was great.”

Alina continued: “We broke up a few times. If I would get attention from other people he would be suspicious. If I was going out somewhere he would want to know where I was going and who with.

“At the beginning I didn’t think too much of it, I just thought he was being caring.”

Clark would always check Alina’s phone and eventually demanded to show screenshots of messages on social media to know who she was chatting with.

“I felt I couldn’t go out with my friends without him having a say in it,” she expressed.

One year later, she started receiving messages from an unknown number, threatening to expose her mistakes to her family.

“In the beginning I tried to figure out what they wanted and who they were,” Alina said.

But after blocking the number, she received chilling calls from different numbers and whenever she picks up, the caller would just hang up.

She also received abusive messages and threats, leaving her terrified to go out.

“I was physically scared to leave the flat. It struck fear into my day to-day life,” Alina said. “I would stare out of the window sometimes looking for anyone suspicious or a car hanging around.

“Even now if I feel like someone’s walking behind me I will get paranoid I am being followed.

“He saw it was affecting me and I would get upset and he would say ‘I will try to figure out who it is. I will get it to stop.’”

Alina started to suspect and boyfriend but he always denied it. “The last time he got quite upset, he made me doubt why I asked him. He would do everything to throw me off the scent.”

Clarke’s lies finally came to an end when police traced the numbers to him.

Judge Recorder Ed Burge QC told Clarke: “The mental anguish that you needlessly inflicted on her can only be guessed at. You have escaped going straight to prison by the skin of your teeth.”
