Woman Brought Ashes Of Her Dead Father To Utility Company After They Demanded To See Him

A grieving daughter, Gloria, went to extreme lengths to teach a rude utility company a lesson after they have demanded to see her dead father in person in order to cancel utility bills under his name.

Gloria, who goes under the name PrincessG66 on Reddit, explained that the utility company refused to cancel the utility bills even though she had shown them her father’s death certificate.

“I’m pretty sure that it started out as someone just made a clerical error in filing the death certificate. When you combine a mistake with lack of caring as a whole, you get a bunch of people who are just there for a paycheck,” Gloria explained to Bored Panda.

While she attempted to solve the problem the nice way at first, the utility company wouldn’t budge and continued to demand to see her dead father.

“In trying to get the matter handled, I was passed around to so many different people that I lost count. Not one person every really took the time to listen to what I was trying to say to them. Not one person said ‘oh. Wait. He’s dead? I understand. Let me get this to the correct department.’ They just kept on insisting on speaking with the account holder,” the daughter added.

Desperate to resolve the matter and make the company listen to her, Gloria scheduled an appointment and took her father’s remains with her to the meeting. After all, they wanted to see him.

“I knew that it would be shocking to her to see his ashes. I knew that she would finally shut the hell up and listen. I hoped that after someone stood up to her and put her in her place, she would change her ways and hopefully treat the next person better,” Gloria added.

While she admitted that her actions could be seen as ‘extreme’, Gloria pointed out that there was no other way to make the company listen to her. “My dad was right there with me in spirit and would have approved of using his ashes to fight back,” she said.

To find out how the meeting ended, read the whole story here:

“My father died on Father’s Day 2012. He was divorced and living alone, and I am an only child. So that means that I had to wrap up all of his affairs. This story centers around us trying to get his utilities canceled.

“I called in to see what we had to do to get them to cancel. The lady I spoke with on the phone said to send in his certified death certificate. I sent in the certified copy of his death certificate the next day.

The next month got another bill. I called again and a new woman answered. She said that because I wasn’t on the account that she had to speak with the account holder.

I informed her that the account holder was dead but she wouldn’t budge. I had to make an appointment with a supervisor so she could speak to him herself in person.

“I showed up at the board of public utilities with another death certificate and HIS ASHES IN THE CLEAR BAG that they returned his remains in.

I plopped them down on the center of her desk and said when she talked to him to tell him that I loved him for me. The woman went pale, flew out her chair, and called the cops.

“When they showed up she claimed that I had assaulted her. And yes, my dad’s remains were still sitting in the middle of her desk with the death certificate. The cops questioned me as to why I would do that. I told them the story. The supervisor’s boss was called in and they all stepped away from the desk for a private talk. While they were talking the cops came over to talk to me.

They said that I shouldn’t take human remains out in public, but there were no laws that were broken. I said that I agreed with them that it was extreme, but she insisted to speak with him in person. By then they were done talking between themselves. The supervisor’s boss kissed up to me and got it taken care of.
