Louise Fletcher, from Chelmsley Wood, got married to her fiance Anthony Fletcher in January and died after just few weeks of her wedding.
The 38-year-old mother who was terminally ill had been told that her breast cancer has returned in the month of November.
She had two children Keyleigh, 20, and Oryne, 12. Her daughter, Keyleigh Charlton paid a tribute to her beloved mom and said that her late mother was a very loving and caring person. She told BirminghamLive: “She was just a beautiful person, inside and out who cared so much for other people.”
“She was very fun-loving. She was still so very young and enjoyed going out and having fun. I know it might sound like a cliche but my mom lit up a room when she walked in. She was so beautiful with a lovely smile.”
Keyleigh said that her mother defeated cancer in 2012 but later it was revealed that her terminal cancer had spread around her body. “She had cancer in 2012 and overcame it. But she started having really bad problems with her back and neck and a few lumps had appeared.
“Doctors told her there was nothing to worry about but in November last year, she went back to the doctors to have a check-up and saw her consultant. She had a few tests and it came back that she had terminal cancer which had spread around her body.”
Doctors informed her mother that now it is too late for intensive treatment. Before getting married to her fiance she spent her last remaining days in a Marie Curie Hospice. On January 19, the couple tied the knot in the Chelmsley Wood community as ‘Fletch,’ at the centre.
The wedding was actually planned to happen in September but due to Louise’s condition, they decided to pre-pone the ceremony. Keyleigh added: “Mom was going for a big wedding in September with family and friends but it wasn’t to be. But she did marry Fletch at Marie Curie Hospice. She got her wish in the end.”
On March 31, the funeral of Louise took place at Woodlands Cemetery, Coleshill. Sadly, only six people could attend it as the rules of social distancing don’t allow large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.
Keyleigh said: “It is so sad that we are only allowed six people at mom’s funeral. We have been told she can’t have any more people there because of coronavirus and not having a group of people gathering together.
She said that they are planning to have a big memorial for her mom after the coronavirus vanishes from the world. Keyleigh even has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the funeral.
“It is a great shame as my mom was very popular in the Chelmsley Wood community and it would have been attended by a lot of people. The plan is to have a big memorial for when this is all over so everyone who wanted to attend the funeral can still pay tribute,” she added.
“We will celebrate her life that day, had planned to ask people to bring a £1 to buy a Marie Curie badge on the day of her funeral with proceeds going to the hospice. We will certainly be raising funds for Marie Curie Hospice on the day because they offered such fantastic care to my mom. My mom’s favorite color was yellow so we may be asking people to wear yellow or an item of yellow.”
