It is recommended to breastfeed children until two years old or longer, according to the World Health Organization.

Veteran mothers defend other women who breastfeed their little ones in public. But this particular mom sparked backlash online after she threatened to punch nursing mothers and their babies.

“This woman thinks it’s okay to threaten nursing mothers and their eating children. Meet #CarlyClark ladies and gentlemen, she’s a real piece of work,” one mother wrote.

“@petsense This post is from a manager in Gaffney, SC. Absolutely unacceptable! Threatening to punch breastfeeding mothers and infants? Repercussions need to be made! #normalizebreastfeeding.”

“We absolutely would never condone violence such as was recently posted by a former Petsense employee. These are her individual views and do not reflect the views of Petsense or its employees.

“The individual is no longer employed by Petsense. We sincerely apologize to all of those who have been affected by this situation.”

People were shocked that such a thing even happened, with one person writing: “I breastfed all 4 of my children. I like my privacy so I draped with a receiving blanket. Whip it out, cover it up, whatever works best for you and your baby. Each to her own.”

Another wrote: “Glad she lost her job over this crap. I read her “justification” and simply can’t see my way to her viewpoint.”
