An odd action of a manager of Starbucks in Tempe, Arizona, raised debates across the country regarding the respect of police officers. The incident happened on July 4, 2019, when the manager asked police officers to leave. The reason was very odd, “people did not feel safe”.
Amped coffee company that was opened in June 2018, located in Anthem, Arizona, showed a healthy reaction to this incident in the form of appreciating local law enforcement officers.
Keith and Jeanine Walashek owned this coffee company and formulated a new policy offering free coffee to law enforcement officers of the town.
According to Liftable, a section of The Western Journal, Jeanine mentioned in an email that they wanted to start a business in their community that would fill a void. A place where people of all age groups would feel comfortable. A unique place with different nooks to get your work done.
Since the opening of Amped Coffee Company, it has hosted healthy activities like weekend music parties, trivia nights and two First Responder Appreciation Days. Above all, the coffee shop has a conference room that can be rented out for business meetings or bible studies.
Jeanine further explained his vision is these words, “We wanted a place for community, a place where people feel good just being there”.
Keith said that he and his wife had noticed that over the past few decades people had starting portraying more negative about cops.
This incident felt bad to owners of Amped coffee company because one of their sons is also serving as a Cop in the Phoenix area. Keith expressed his emotions that being the father of a police officer is not an easy job, he and her wife are always worried about the safety of his son. Moreover, he stressed that other business owners must also take such steps like him to increase the respect element regarding cops in society.
The coffee shop posted on their Facebook page on July 6, 2019, about cops and their selfless services in providing safety to society. Within the first week, this post received more than 1000 reactions.
Coffee shop just tried to express their gratitude and support by their act of formulating a special offer for cops.
