Militant vegan activists were confronted by angry meat-eaters who pelted them with steaks as they gathered to protest outside a butcher’s store in Perth, Australia.
In an attempt to advocate for animal rights, approximately 20 Direct Action Everywhere supporters have taken to Mondo Butchers by Vince Garreffa.
What the protesters didn’t expect, however, was that they would be confronted by an angry mob of around 300 meat-eaters who apparently have enough of vegan propaganda.
In retaliation to the vegan activists, the meat lovers feasted on barbecue sticks and enjoyed Italian music on the street. Some of them even went as far as pelting the vegans with steaks.
“[Vegans] were definitely frustrated. I think they were taken aback by the number of supporters. They were just fuming. Everyone was there to support them,” one witness said in an interview with Daily Mail Australia, admitting that vegans looked like they didn’t expect such resistance.
As the vegans were shouting ‘Stop the killing! Stop the violence! Fight with us!’ through the megaphone, butchers proudly displayed their meat and carried it up and down the street.
“All the butchers started parading meat, carrying four or five lambs over their shoulders,” the onlooker added.
In addition, the meat lovers mocked the vegans and branded them hypocrites for allegedly wearing leather boots during their protest.
“I couldn’t believe they would waste so much time attacking individual farmers and butcher shops,” chef and store owner Vince Garreffa told Daily Mail Australia after the incident.
“I couldn’t believe the amount of farmers, butchers, and members of local council who came to support us. It was so humbling that I got emotional a few times.”
