The abandoned unicorn puppy that has gone viral thanks to what looks like a tail growing from his head has finally been adopted into a loving home.

Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn was taken in by Mac the Pitbull shelter after he was abandoned by his original owner.

As the staff quickly realized, the beagle-mix pup was not like any other dog they’ve ever seen due to an unusual appendage resembling a tail growing out of his forehead.

Before Unicorn could be put up for adoption, the shelter had to ensure the pooch was ready for starting a new life and getting to know his new owners.

Following weeks of care, Rochelle Steffen, the founder of the shelter, fell in love with the doggie and decided to keep him herself.

“I had no intention initially of keeping him. I didn’t want a puppy. I thought I would end up with another really sad bully case, because they’re the most misunderstood. But Narwhal is absolutely, exactly what we needed,” she admitted in an interview with Southeast Missourian.

“It’s not just a decision from me. The whole rescue cannot fathom him leaving. We all fell in love with him.”

Previously, when the shelter first came across Unicorn, they also revealed to their followers the truth about the dog’s rare appendage.

“The extra tail is not connected to anything and has no real use other than making him the COOLEST PUPPY EVER! Dr. Heuring said there is no real reason at this time for the unicorn tail to be removed (and we all wish it wagged)!! Pretty sure the staff at Cape Small also gushed all over this little nugget!” they wrote.

“The unicorn face tail does not bother Narwhal and he never slows down just like any normal puppy. He seems completely healthy other than some usual puppy worms he got meds for.”
