Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, has once again publicly expressed his thoughts on immigration laws as he shared an old Australian government poster and praised the country for their strict immigration policies when it comes to dealing with illegal immigrants.
“These flyers depict Australia’s policy on Illegal Immigration,” the president tweeted as he was on his way to attend the G20 summit in Japan.
“Much can be learned!” he suggested to his 61.4 million followers in his Twitter post.
One of the posters, which were made in 2014, that Trump shared read “Australia’s borders are closed to illegal immigration,” while another one warned: “NO WAY. YOU WILL NOT MAKE AUSTRALIA HOME.”
Trump’s tweet followed moments after he suggested that the Democrats should be held responsible for the drowning of Salvadoran father and daughter who illegally crossed the Rio Grande River because “open borders mean people drowning.”
Following the incident that sparked compassion from the public, Donald Trump took a strike at the Democrats and accused them of being responsible for the deaths of the migrants.
“That’s like I’ve been saying. If they fixed the laws, you wouldn’t have that,” the President said in an interview at the White House before proceeding to the G20 meeting in Japan.
“They want to have open borders and open borders mean crime, and open borders mean people drowning in the rivers. And it’s a very dangerous thing.
“I hate it, and I know it could stop immediately if the Democrats change the law. And then that father, who probably was this wonderful guy, with his daughter, things like that wouldn’t happen.”
As the president later on added, attempting to enter the U.S. illegally by crossing the river is “very dangerous.”
He also claimed that all of the deaths could be prevented if the Democrats took appropriate actions.
“If we had the right laws, that the Democrats are not letting us have, those people, they wouldn’t be coming up, they wouldn’t be trying,” Trump said.
