Girl Got Slammed After Calling Her Friend’s Well-Earned Achievement ‘White Privilege’

No doubt ‘White Privilege’ is evident in our society whether you accept it or not.

But calling someone’s achievement a ‘White Privilege’ is totally wrong and unacceptable. A Facebook post went viral where a medical student decided to share her excitement with her friends as she had been accepted into a Yale medical School but a friend tried to troll her for this.

An excited student posted on social media about getting accepted into Yale Medical School:

People congratulated the girl but one of her friends couldn’t hide her jealousy and commented, “Good job, might I add a shout out to your white privilege for you”.

The girl couldn’t believe that instead of congratulating her she commented something so mean. She replied back, “LMAO you just have to insert your opinion everywhere?”

To defend herself, the girl then commented something which is really heart-touching. She wrote:

‘Melissa, I grew up in a foster home. Both my parents were alcoholics and gave me up when I was five. I had to take care of my brother for two years until we got adopted and even then we were both abused by that family and had to go back into the orphanage for another two years.’

‘I spent long nights studying and working part-time in high school just to support myself and my brother. I was lucky enough to have good grades to get into a decent undergrad.’

But instead of apologizing, her friend commented: ‘Umm okay sweetie, you claim to understand privilege but you can’t even self critique buh bye.’

People supported the girl and asked her to avoid giving attention to negative comments.

Well, this is really sad! If someone is sharing their achievement with you, it is so mean to call the achievements ‘White Privileges’. Hope that girl got a lesson that her accusation was misplaced.
