Woman Became Mother Of Triplets With A Heart-shaped Womb After Having A Number Of Miscarriages


Jemma Sheppard a thirty-three years old lady working in Finance, hailing from Newport shares her astounding story after eliciting that she is expecting three little hopes, notwithstanding the fact that her womb was divided into two sections which are a quit sporadic disease.

Both Jemma and her husband Anton Sheppard, who is thirty-two years of age, were shocked after they were informed by the doctors that Jemma’s uterus is partitioned into two chambers. Having said that, it will be nearly impossible for Jemma her to carry even a single child in her womb.

It was a moment of joy when they were told by doctors that Jemma is pregnant with three children which are compressed on one side.

According to Jemma, she was struggling for a single child but when she was informed about triplets, she felt herself in the seventh sky. As now her family was complete with two daughters and a son and it was no less than a miracle.

It was hard for Jemma to believe that she was conceiving three children as doctors told that she would not be able to carry a single child. She still pinches herself to check if she is watching a dream.

After one year of marriage when Jemma suffered miscarriages, they had hormone tests upon the advice of their GP. It was revealed to the couple that, Jemma had polycystic ovaries and unlike a pear-shaped uterus, she had a heart shaped.

This condition is known as the arched uterus or bicornuate uterus. Women who suffer from this condition are more likely to suffer miscarriages and premature deliveries. Upon the prescription of drugs, Jemma conceived twice but lost both pregnancies.

Later they decided to look for intrauterine insemination (IUI) which is a fertility treatment in which the ovulation process in Jemma was located through ultrasound and there were three eggs with only fifteen percent chance of pregnancy.

However, the couple took a risk and two weeks later it was revealed that Jemma was pregnant with three little hopes. Although women like Jemma have premature delivery she was bestowed with three healthy kids on 20th December via cesarean section.

The babies were of thirty-five weeks and were born at Cardiff’s University Hospital. They all were healthy and weighed 3lb 5oz Areya, 5lb 7ozElevyn and Rome was of 4lb 11oz.

They were shifted to home after almost three weeks and the couple characterized their kids on the basis of their habits. They were happy and contended with this miracle.
