A transgender man has proudly given birth to his baby after getting impregnated by a transgender woman and having a trans doctor deliver their offspring.
39-year-old Reuben Sharpe has begun the transition to a male over a decade ago and years before he met and fell in love with Jay, his non-binary partner.
Following six years after the beginning of Reuben’s transition, the trans man decided to halt his testosterone injections in order to fall pregnant and be able to carry the couple’s baby.
“It’s taken six years to get this far, but now we have a baby in our arms and that was the end goal. I finally feel complete,” Reuben said in an interview with Sunday Mirror.
“It wasn’t that I was desperate to have the birthing experience or pregnancy experience, but I wanted a child and I had the facility to do it.
“Both of our families love kids. I was so glad my family were as excited about our baby as they were their other grandkids.”
As the man added, it was crucial for him and Jay to share the passion for having and raising a child in order to make their relationship work.
To make pregnancy possible, Reuben and Jay had to find an open-minded sperm donor and a doctor who would help them pull their plan through.
Fortunately for the family, they soon came across a transgender doctor who injected Reuben with the sperm of a transgender woman.
While the first attempt at getting pregnant failed, Reuben and Jay were overjoyed to make it work in the second try.
Months later, the couple welcomed a baby named Jamie via C-section. As they added, the majority of people have proven to be very supportive of their life, though some still find a way to hurt them with their inappropriate comments.
As for the couple’s future family plans, Jay revealed ‘they’ is open to be the one to carry their next baby.
