A young man sold one of his kidneys when he was a teenager on the black market in China to buy a new iPhone and iPad.
The man is now 25-year-old and is disabled and bedbound.
In an underground clinic, he had his kidney removed when he was just 17 years old.
He sold his kidney on the black market for 22,000 yuan (£2,528) in 2011 to buy an iPhone and iPad.
The man wanted to prove to his classmates that he was trendy. The high school student found three middlemen on a Chinese online chatting platform QQ.
The three middlemen asked for one of his kidneys.
The man travelled from his hometown in the eastern Anhui Province to the southern Hunan Province in April 2011 where the middlemen introduced him to two surgeons.
He had his kidney removed in an underground clinic which was then sold to a patient by the middlemen for 160,000 yuan (£24000).
Wang was paid just 22,000 yuan while the middlemen kept the remaining money. His mother came to know when she saw him with an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 and called the police.
He later became disabled and bedbound.
The three middlemen were jailed for three to five years and the two doctors were jailed for three years each.
