Berthinia Rutledge-Brown always knew that her 17-year-old some Michael Brown is smart and intelligent.
Every mother believes that their child is talented and knowledgeable but still when it comes to applying for admissions and all kids do have to prove themselves to the admission counselors.
Micheal’s mother always cared about his son’s grades and pushed her to achieve whatever he desires for. Berthinia said that since the 6th grade Micheal has been very concerned and has always made his own decisions.
He had a 4.68 average point and also scored well in his SAT as he got 1540 out of 1600 and he scored 34 out of 36 in the ACT.
Mike aims to go to Stanford University, but he didn’t just stop there as he filled applications for the best 20 colleges including the top eight universities like Northwestern, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Standford, Georgetown, Vanderbilt and University of Pennsylvania.
Mike has excellent academics result, and he was always involved in debate teams, internships, and different activities in school, but still, he thought that this wouldn’t be enough to pursue his dreams.
When the Standford early decision came out, he went to his friend’s house with his mom and logged into the portal to see the result with his finger crossed. Mike couldn’t believe that he’d been accepted in his dream school.
After that, a great thing happened, as every university accepted Mike’s application and it was a big decision to make for him. Mike got taken in all 20 universities with a full ride in every single of them.
The proud mother said that I knew Mike could do this because he is hardworking, but I didn’t imagine this happening. She cried because she thought that she wouldn’t be able to afford her kid’s education, but luckily he was awarded $260,000 outside scholarship in addition to those from the schools.
Micheal is delighted as he was able to achieve his dream and he says that it is my hard work and determination paying off today. Mike will be taking tours to all the schools to decide his future.
