When it comes to tricks, dogs tend to come to mind.
But parrots also rank pretty high up when it comes to adorable antics that can really tickle your funny bone like crazy.
In this video, we see a talented parrot named Fabio dancing to his favorite song “Dance Party.” His cool gyrations and the way he bobs his head are already adorable enough but then he begins to sing along! Absolutely hilarious!

Fabio definitely deserves the praise his owner gives him who says, “You’ve got the moves!”
Parrots are playful and inquisitive creatures which is why it’s easy for them to pick up and mimic certain sounds and movements. But a lot more is involved in caring for a parrot than just getting one and putting them in a cage. They actually need a lot of activity and stimulation to avoid getting bored.
It’s also not good to keep them penned up. They need several perches around the house and a large area where they can fly around. This often means making extensive modifications to the home that most people are not prepared to make.
One would think that music would provide a suitable form of distraction for a parrot but one study has surprisingly found that certain parrots don’t like dance music which makes Fabio even more remarkable.
In a study published in Applied Animal Science Journal, researchers found out that between two African gray parrots, they had varying tastes in music and dance music wasn’t even one of their favorites. The sound of rock and folk music produced reactions while electronic dance music did not elicit any reaction.
The music of Joan Baez, UB40, and U2 seemed to be particularly pleasing for the parrots, especially the classical music of Bach. Pop music was also acceptable as long as there were lyrics being sung. In contrast, electronic music caused the parrots to scream aggressively and even acted frightened.
Either way, scientists still can’t explain why parrots dance. Perhaps, like humans, they simply find joy in expressing themselves through body movement when the occasion calls for it.
