Cop Told Stranded Family To Get Into His SUV Before Announcing That He’s ‘Legally Kidnapping’ Them

Being told to get into a police vehicle usually doesn’t indicate anything too good.

Nevertheless, when one family from Maine was told to do so, they were genuinely surprised once they’ve learned the reason behind it.

Kori Malenfant is a 19-year-old girl who traveled from Maine to Boston together with her family to attend a critical procedure. According to the report of The Boston Globe, she needed brain surgery because her tissue was rapidly extending into the spinal cord.

Luckily, the surgery was a success. However, after coming back to the train station, they realized that their train has already left. They were too late, so they found themselves stranded on the cold benches of the station. Due to the severe winter weather, this was not a right place for the recovering Kori to stay at for two more hours until another train would arrive.

The family asked a passing pair of cops if they could help. They agreed to ask their captain, Kelley McCormick, about it. Shortly after, he arrived at the scene and told the family to follow him. After reaching his SUV, he collected their luggage and put it in the car. Then, he told everyone to jump in because they were going on a ride.

Kori and her parents were surprised. They thought he wants to keep them warm until the next train arrives. As the drive got longer, however, the family began to question Kelley’s actions. “Mom asked where we were going, and he laughed and said he was kidnapping us and that it was perfectly legal,” Kori recalled. “We soon realized he was driving us all the way to Portland, back to our car!”

According to Malenfant, Kelley said that he couldn’t just let her wait in the cold after undergoing such a serious surgery. Kori continued by saying that: “we were all in shock and very emotional at this amazing and generous act of kindness.”

After reaching their car in Portland, the family quickly made it to their home. There, Kori created a Facebook post in which she explained what happened and thanked the generous police captain. “I am blessed and honored to have spent a car ride with such an amazing national hero. Thank you, Captain Kelley McCormick,” she wrote.
