A classic math puzzle for kids has reappeared on social media after netizens were tasked with finding the correct answer.
In the picture below, you will see a series of equations that you are asked to use in order to solve the puzzle by finding out which number should replace the question mark in the fourth line.

First of all, let’s presume that S stands for icons with shoes, C for cat, and W for icons with whistles.
LINE 1: S + S + S = 30. Therefore, 3S = 30 and S = 10.
LINE 2: S + C + C = 20. Therefore, 10 + 2C = 20 and 2C = 10. This means that C = 5.
LINE 3: C + W + W = 13. Therefore, 5 + 2W = 13 and 2W = 8. This means that W = 4.
LINE 4: S + C x W = 10 + 5 x 4 = 10 + 20 = 30. This answer is 30. Make sure you perform multiplication before addition.
