The Simpsons Predicted Coronavirus Outbreak 27 Years Ago, Fans Of The Cartoon Claimed


Fans of The Simpsons have claimed the cartoon predicted the outbreak of the killer coronavirus 27 years ago.

In an episode from 1993, a virus spreads through Springfield after people ordered juicers from Japan.

Fans then started posting on social media about the similarities between the current global outbreak and the show titled ‘Merge in Chains.’

Scenes show the juicers being packed into boxes while sick workers cough on the devices, sending the virus to Springfield.

Twitter users discussed the similarities even though the virus on the cartoon came from Japan while the coronavirus came from China.

“The Simpsons are from the future. They have predicted everything that has happened to us. Like trump becoming pres, Kobe’s death and now the coronavirus. What’s next?! The world ending?” one Twitter user wrote.

“Did the simpsons really predict kobe’s death and the corona virus outbreak? wtf this is crazy,” another wrote.

“The Simpsons scares me. This episode aired 27 years ago in 1993!” a third added.

In 1997, the cartoons also predicted the Ebola outbreak and in 2000, it predicted that Donald Trump would become the president of the United States of America.

These claims come as the death toll rose to more than 360 and cases over 17,000 worldwide.

In Thailand, medics have seen promising results after treating a coronavirus patient with two antiviral drugs usually used for treating HIV and flu.

The patient was in a ‘serious condition’ when doctors tested the drug mix. According to Bloomberg, the patient was declared ‘disease-free’ within 48 hours.

Originally for treating influenza and HIV, the drugs were a success, according to a briefing given by Dr. Kriangsak Attipornwanich.

The country has 19 confirmed cases of the deadly virus and 11 people are still in hospital while others returned home.
