Nothing warms my heart better than someone who is a genuinely nice person and gets rewarded for it through karma.

The true unsung heroes are those who help us when we need it most.

One of these heroes is Kasey Simmons, a 32-year-old server at an Applebee’s in Little Elm, Texas. On Simmons’ day off, he was doing his weekly grocery shopping. As he was shopping he saw a woman who seemed to be having a very rough time. He could see the pain on her face, even though she was doing her best to fight it back.

Simmons couldn’t bear the sight of the sad woman so he approached her to cheer her up. Simmons not only told the woman that she was beautiful, but he also decided to go a step further and even offered to pay for her groceries. Simmons told WFAA why he offered to buy her groceries.

“I insisted. It was only $17, but it’s not about the money — it’s about showing someone you care”

The very next day, Simmons went into work, thinking that was the end of the gesture, but he was in for a massive surprise. One customer walked in, bought the cheapest thing on the menu, a flavored water. The customer had left a handwritten note on a napkin.

It turns out, the person who wrote this note was actually the adult daughter of the woman at the grocery store from the day before. The napkin explained that the woman was sad because she was mourning the anniversary of her husband’s death.

“On one of the most depressing days of the year, the death of my father’s three-year anniversary, you made my mother’s day wonderful.”

Simmons was taken aback at how much his small gesture meant. The note also explained that the woman had been smiling ever since his small gesture at the grocery store. It seems that Simmons small gesture helped this woman more than his biggest dreams!

This wasn’t the only thing the woman’s daughter left, either. Although she bought the cheapest item on the menu, which cost only about 37 cents, she gave Simmons a massive tip. A whopping $500 for his incredible gesture.

Even though Simmons had never intended to be rewarded for his efforts, he was absolutely shocked at the generosity of the family he helped. Now Simmons is hoping that one day he will meet the family again and thank them for their generosity!
