It was such an important occasion in their history where they paid tribute to those whose life ended in the army while defending their nation. Those who were maimed in one way or the other were also being honored on that very day.

Queen Elizabeth is known to take an important part in that event laying down the wreath. However, this year has come to something that not so many people had anticipated. Instead of the Queen doing it herself, she passed on that duty to one of her sons, Prince Charles. It was the second time that she was doing that throughout her entire reign.

That action marked the sixth time in history that Queen Elizabeth has not been involved in laying down the wrath and for the very first time since the year 1999 where she handed over her duties to someone else.

The other times when she never did it were when she was either abroad or expectant. The BBC reported that a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: “Queen Elizabeth wishes to let you know that she will be alongside Duke of Edinburg at the balcony.”
