If you’re wondering how the luxury hospital where Meghan Markle reportedly gave birth to a baby boy looks like, here’s an inside view of the private facility.
The 37-year-old wanted to give birth at home after she rejected the Lindo Wing used by the Duchess of Cambridge at the birth of her all three children.
However, contrary to her plans, the Duchess of Sussex had to take to a private hospital to give birth to her baby, more than a week overdue.
It’s been believed the Baby Sussex was delivered at The Portland Hospital located in central London.
The childbirth packages at the luxurious facility start from a whopping $20,000 and can ramp up to even $26,000.
Other famous moms who used the facility to give birth include Liz Hurley, Jools Oliver, and Victoria Beckham. The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, also welcomed Princess Eugenie and Beatrice at The Portland.
The lavish labor suites feature incredible Molton Brown toiletries and four-poster cots, and the staff provides 24-hour room service.
The facility also offers a hearty meal to new parents with a menu served on silver platters, comprising of oysters, lobster, foie gras, and champagne.
Parents are charged up to $2,500 a night on extended stays. When the couple leaves the center, the new mothers are handed a luxury ‘goodie bags.’
According to The Sun, the facility features a full-time crew of 50 midwives and nursery nurses.
The staff is on duty 24 hours, happy to ‘check in’ on newborns to change nappies or take care of other stuff while the parents get some shut-eye.
Newborns are treated to $18,000 four-poster Little Duchess cot and $4,600 Moses baskets designed by Dragons of Walton Street, UK’s famed luxury furniture brand.
Several sources have pointed out that Meghan’s baby was delivered at the hospital but Buckingham Palace has declined to comment.
Meghan’s mother Doria reportedly went with her daughter and son-in-law to the hospital.
After a few hours of giving birth, the three of them returned to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the couple’s new home.
Prince Harry announced the big news yesterday in a joyous address at Windsor.
The 34-year-old said: ‘I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning, a very healthy boy.
‘Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.
‘How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there.
‘It’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.’
Asked how he felt at the time of the birth, he replied: ‘I haven’t been at many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.
‘As every father and parent will ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I’m just over the moon.’
