A police horse has gone viral after its caretakers revealed that he refuses to get up and start his shift unless they give him a warm cup of tea with skimmed milk and sugar in it.
While most of us struggle to get up without a proper drink to warm us up in the morning, Jake the horse has come up with a brilliant idea to get what he wants.
The 20-year-old horse of Merseyside Police has found a way to get a huge mug of tea with sugar in it every morning.
As Jake’s caretakers revealed, the horse refuses to get up and start his job unless he is served sweetened tea first.
Covered in a blanket, Jake slowly slurps his tea which comes along with skimmed milk and two teaspoons of sugar on a daily basis.
“Jake is one of twelve horses we’ve got at the stable working with us,” Jake’s trainer Lindsey Gaven said.
“I’d definitely describe Jake as a horse with a lot of character. We’ve all learnt his tea order – he’ll deal with one sugar, but is definitely happier when you remember to give him two.
“If you’re at the side of the stable and he sees you with a mug in your hand, you can guarantee he’ll trot on over to try and steal a slurp.”
While preparing tea for Jake may seem like a big deal to some, Lindsey knows it’s the least they can do for the horse that’s been working with them on policing football matches for 15 years.
