23-year-old Danezja Kilpatrick has been charged with two counts of murder after she killed her 6-week-old twins.
The bodies of the infants were found brutally stabbed to death in her apartment.
The mother was charged less than 24 hours after cops with the New York Police Department found the twins inside the Woodside Houses on 51st street and 32nd Avenue.
Officers first found the body of the boy in a bedroom crib with a knife still sticking out of his head, the Daily News reported.
When police asked Kilpatrick about her second child, the 23-year-old said she was under the sink.
The young mother has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child.
Photos of the infants have since emerged online.
The mother’s sister had shared a photo of the twins when they were born in March, writing: “Huge congratulations to my Sister Danezja on her newborn twins Dallas and Dakota Kilpatrick. I’m so happy for her.”
A police source said that a relative had requested a wellness check to the building after the mother gave evasive answers when asked about the whereabouts of the children.
According to the New York Post, the mother appeared agitated when officers arrived at the apartment.
“I do not want them,” she told police. “I can’t take it anymore.”
An EMS paramedic declared both the girl and the boy dead.
Kilpatrick was taken for questioning and police recovered the knife at the scene.
