People in Sweden have been upgrading their hands by getting chipped since the spring of 2018.

The chip is surgically inserted between their index finger and thumb to replace all keys, plastic cards and other things people always need to carry with them.

Last year, around 100 people had chips. But now, over 4,000 are getting chips inserted in their hands and the number is still growing.

As small as a grain of rice, the chip replaces all electronic wallets, travel cards, bank cards, and other key cards. It can be used for paying by simply touching a terminal with your hand.

The chip and the procedure cost $180. It doesn’t have a GPS tracker so users cannot be tracked.

It only works if the chip is several inches away from the reader so information cannot be stolen by criminals unless they get the user’s hand.

Also, it only contains the information but it cannot access any information from other devices.

Experts believe the device opens a door for people in Sweden to a new digital age as it is convenient to use.

The invention has been criticized by people from all over the world. Skeptics also think nobody can guarantee that personal information in chips will be confidential.

In addition, some people believe chips will eventually have GPS trackers in them. And if you’re going to think about it, phones are getting smarter than ever to hold everything for you. You can open doors, buy items, make reservations and pay for tickets with one tap.
