People Who Are Addicted To Smartphone Could Develop Anxiety And Depression

Confessing your addiction to your smartphone is not difficult. Most users easily admit how much they are attached to their mobile devices.

Statistics show that a user usually checks his or her mobile phone at least 47 times a day.

70 percent of the users check their phones as soon as they open their eyes in the morning. Over 50 percent check their phones before going to bed. 44 percent of the users would become stressed out and anxious if they lose their device.

Smartphone addiction has also been linked to difficulty sleeping. The blue light emitted by your phone can affect your sleep cycle, making it harder for you to fall asleep.

According to research conducted by Baylor University, most users frequently check their smartphones to help them get through the day. When they’re having problems, they want to improve their mood by seeking comforts provided by their phones.

But smartphone addiction has a negative impact on a person’s personality.

If a person is using his or her smartphone excessively, it is possible to become emotionally unstable.

In a study involving 346 students, data revealed those who used their devices more than others tend to have temperamental behavior. They are also very materialistic and moody.

Smartphone addiction caused the students to have troubles concentrating on their tasks. The inability to focus is often linked to being unhappy.

And despite the common belief that introverts were most likely to stay at home and check their phones, they were actually the ones who were not addicted to smartphones.

When you’re constantly checking your device to see if you have new messages, notification, email or tweet, you are a phone addict and it could make you become emotionally unstable.

To beat your addiction, start by not using your phone in bed. Get a real alarm clock to get rid of the temptation of checking notifications. When eating with your family and friends, no one should touch a smartphone.

You can also consider deleting unnecessary apps and turning off notifications. Have a phone-free day at least once a week.
