Bored Penguins Roamed Around Empty Zoo And Were Given Their Own Obstacle Course


While people are currently not allowed to visit major attractions due to coronavirus lockdown, penguins in Singapore Zoo have been making the most of the peaceful and peaceful area.

The penguins freely roamed the complex and were given their own obstacle course to help them build their leg strength.

Wildlife Reserves Singapore wrote on Facebook that its African penguins are going on regular walks as they are allowed to ‘explore new areas’ while the zoo is closed to tourists because of COVID-19.

An obstacle course was also set up for the penguins to help them build leg strength.

Sharing a video of the cute penguins, WRS wrote: “Our African penguins have taken to their walks so well that their keepers think they would love to explore new areas in our parks.

“To help them go further in their little adventures, their exhibit has been transformed into an obstacle course, helping them build leg strength!”

The WRS also explained in the clip about how the penguins adapted to the new environment.

“Our African penguins came back from a swim and were in for a surprise… Their keepers transformed their exhibit. The bravest of them all ventured into the new obstacle course, and soon the rest of the colony wanted in on the action.

“African penguin habitats are sandy and can be steep or rocky. The workout strengthens their legs, as different muscles are put to use to navigate new environments. This helps the penguins get ready for their next adventure.

The clip gained over 1,000 shares and 2,500 likes. One person commented: “Wonderful enrichment for them. Loving the slide to the ball pit.”
