Mahomes and Matthews got engaged in 2020 at Arrowhead Stadium as his teammates and the signal-caller collected their Super Bowl rings.

In an interview with The Drive last autumn, Mahomes said that he was comfortable in evolving into a family man.

“I think it’s just about growing up, about having the responsibility and evolving as a family,” he expressed.

“I think we’ve done that – me and Brittany, and the people around me – and I’m just excited for the future ahead of being able to keep building and keep becoming a better person for my family and this world.”

In a 2020 interview with KCSP 610 Sports Radio, the athlete said that a difficult 2020 was made special thanks to their engagement.

“Those things are special, that you don’t get to happen a lot in your life,” he said.

“Being able to be a dad and being able to get married here soon, I’m truly thankful for that. I mean, the Super Bowl was awesome as well, but those things change your life, and it’s bigger than football.”
