If the couple’s request is approved, it will be the first time that the longest-serving monarch will meet her youngest great-grandchild Lilibet.

According to several reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle suggested that they would like to briefly return from the United States this autumn, which will be Meghan’s first time in the UK since they stepped down with their Royal duties in March 2020.

The Sun reported that Prince Harry has been making “olive branch” calls to Royal family members, as he and Meghan discuss Lilibet getting christened at Windsor Castle.

With the couple’s stinging remarks about the Royal family on TV earlier this year, senior palace officials are allegedly stunned by their plans to return to British soil, the Daily Star reported.

“Harry and Meghan have made this offer but a lot of people are shocked by the sheer nerve of it,” a source said. “They may genuinely want to see the Queen but it’s breathtaking given what they’ve put her through this year.”

“Her Majesty’s staff have not responded so far,” the source added. “In fact, there has also been discussion about Christmas — and whether an invitation should be sent to Harry and Meghan after they spurned one last year.”

“The Queen is still very fond of Harry, and would love to see Lilibet and her brother Archie,” the source said. “But courtiers are surprised by the move, especially from Meghan, after what has happened.”

At the time of this writing, Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes have not yet responded to comments regarding the matter.

Just recently, Princess Diana’s former voice coach claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan have been talking with Prince William and Kate Middleton over Zoom.

Despite Harry and Meghan’s scathing remarks on the monarchy, the Cambridges and the Sussexes have reportedly been trying to patch things up.

Stewart Pearce, author of Diana: The Voice of Change, said that the royal couples are now “very close”.

“I know that the four are talking with one another and they’re talking by Zoom [and by] FaceTime,” Pearce told US weekly. “They’re very close with one another.”
