After completing the first part of the challenge to obtain a driving license, Sa-soon had to pass her practical test as well.

Luckily for her, the practical side of the exam only took 10 attempts, and Sa-soon finally got her driving license at the age of 69.

“When she finally got her license, we all went out cheering and hugged her, giving her flowers,” a Jeonbuk Driving School instructor said at the time.

“It felt like a huge burden falling off our backs. We hadn’t had the guts to tell her to quit because she kept showing up.”

Determined to get a license despite spending nearly $15,000 on the tests, Sa-soon previously revealed she needed to be able to drive for the sake of her vegetable-selling business.

“I didn’t mind. To me, commuting every day to take the test was like going to school. I always missed school,” Sa-soon told the media.

Her story recently resurfaced on the internet after the woman became a national sensation and an inspiration for older people who didn’t get the chance to get a driving license early on in their lives.

After getting her driving license, the woman was even rewarded by car manufacturer Hyundai who gave the elderly lady a $17,000 car free of charge.
