Angry Mom Divides The Internet After Slamming Daughter’s Daycare For Making Her Child Clean Up A Mess Despite Being In A Rush

An upset mom divided the internet as she slammed her daughter’s daycare for giving her a “verbal warning” over a mess her daughter couldn’t clean in time.

The woman in question revealed that her daughter is two years old and that she has been staying at the same daycare for months.

She also explained that her daughter’s teacher, Sasha, makes all the children at the daycare clean up the mess they make before allowing them to leave.

While the anonymous parent, who took her issue to Reddit, admitted she agrees with the rule, she revealed that her daughter one time couldn’t finish up cleaning because they were in a rush to catch an appointment.

“My 2-year-old daughter has been in a home daycare for a few months now. The teacher, Sasha, is very nice. I am normally all for my daughter cleaning her own messes,” the mother wrote.

“However, I find when I arrive, Sasha expects my daughter to finish cleaning up whatever she was playing with. Which again would be fine, but it delays us getting out the door and heading home, sometimes we have plans, etc.

“I started texting Sasha when I was so many minutes away, asking her to get my daughter ready and that seemed to work. My daughter would be in her jacket and reading a book, easy to put away vs a huge duplo project or similar.”

While everything worked fine for a few months, a rift between the mother and Sasha the teacher started when the mom found herself in a huge rush one day.

“We had a lot to do this afternoon and I was running behind because I had car trouble. When I arrived, my daughter and some friends were in the middle of cleaning up a big mess,” she explained.

“I told my daughter that we had to go and to get her coat. Sasha said she needed to finish cleaning up her part. I said any other day, sure, but I am running late and we cannot miss this appointment.

“Sasha tried arguing that the kids need to learn responsibility and I flat out said no. I grabbed my daughter, put her coat on and left.”

After leaving, the mother received a “verbal warning” from the teacher who slammed her for “breaking rules” and “undermining” her authority.

Taking the matter to Reddit, the mother asked if she was in the wrong for leaving the daycare before the cleaning was over. While the majority of users suggested the mother had all the right to take her child out despite the teacher’s complaints, others defended the daycare saying no exceptions should be allowed.

“I wouldn’t deal with you, nor would my administration. You get 2 warnings for disrespectful behavior or policy violations then you’re out,” one viewer raged.

“If you knew you had an appointment you should have let Sasha know ahead of time. Cleaning up teaches the child responsibility and she got to leave her mess with the other kids who now have to clean it up,” another said.

Plenty of other people, however, ran to the mother’s defense saying it was just a one-time thing.

“If you say you’re leaving with your kid, you can leave. She can’t keep her there until she decides your child can leave,” one person said.

“I worked childcare and if you have a set time for pick up then there’s no reason clean up can’t be started before then. Then give the kid an activity that takes a few seconds to put away when you get there,” another insisted.

A third wrote: “Daycare pickup should not take 20 minutes. Working parents need to get home, run errands, make dinner, do extracurriculars, and then have quality time left with their children.”
