It is quite a rewarding job to be a nurse.
But sometimes, it can be quite challenging. Every day you wake up not knowing the horrors that you might have to face. There was such an incident in Florida’s Wolfson Children’s Hospital that would have been hard for people to deal with.
A little girl by the name of Delilah was admitted to the hospital. It was discovered through thorough examination that this girl was abused and neglected. If reports are to be believed, Delilah was just fourteen months old with a weak body and broken bones. Her skull was fractured.
The hospital authorities are of the opinion that the injuries were caused by ‘non-accidental trauma’. It would have taken a pure monster to inflict such degree of cruelty on a baby. When a nurse took a look at this innocent child, she knew her life would change forever.
Jess Hamm works as a nurse in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). She was working when Delilah was brought to the hospital. Despite the cruel injuries that Delilah had suffered, Jess knew what she would have to do. Her heart was shattered, but she did not want to show her weakness by crying. The baby was lifeless, but she wouldn’t leave Jess’ finger. That is when Jess decided to adopt her.
Jess believed that she could fill Delilah’s life with happiness and give her everything that she deserved. She would love her endlessly and care for her. Jess leaped from being her nurse to her mother. Jess set up the meeting with concerned authorities in the Florida Department of Children and Families.
While she was doing the paperwork, there was something that she learned about Delilah that astonished her. Delilah had a twin sister. Her name was Caroline, and she was being treated in the same hospital. Jess didn’t spare a moment to think and decided to give the twins a new life in a new home. She believed that this was the right thing to do.
Fast forward to the present day; the twins have restored their health and pass their time singing songs and doing new things. This story proves that love has the power to heal everything. With proper meals and constant encouragement, the siblings would accomplish different goals in their life.
Jess knows that as the twins get older, it would be apparent how different their personalities are. Caroline is quite friendly and loves to help others. She is protective of her twin sister. Delilah greets everyone with a kiss when she meets them.
