A massive earthquake has struck northern Japan today (December 8), with many locals stating how ‘everything is still wobbling’ due to the after-effects.
Japan’s Meteorological Agency shared warnings of how the tsunami of up to 3m is expected to hit the coast of Hokkaido and Aomori imminently. Residents of both these locations are now being urged to evacuate and get to higher ground.
The USGS shared how the earthquake hit the country at 11:15 p.m. local time and was 44 miles off the coast of Northern Japan with a depth of nearly 33 miles.
Users rushed to social media to share more on this matter, including some stating how it was the biggest earthquake that they’ve ever felt in a long time. ‘Everything was shaking and still wobbling right now, but all good here,’ one mentioned.
This is a breaking story, and more details will soon be released by authorities to determine if any damage was done to buildings or loss of human life, as no casualties were reported so far.
