Divers And Sonar Crews Race Against The Tide During Desperate Search For Survivors Of Baltimore Bridge Collapse


Baltimore officials are racing against the clock to save up to 20 individuals who jumped inside the Patapsco River after a giant Singaporean-flagged cargo ship slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

The incident took place at 1:30 am local time. This is when Maryland’s Governor declared a state of emergency on Tuesday after the catastrophic collision that arose at 1:30 am.

The ship was flagged Dali and believed to be 20 minutes into its journey when it suddenly rammed into the support column that was a part of the bridge.

For now, it’s still not clear as to what exactly led to this ordeal as a shocking video featuring the ship going dark in seconds before it rammed into the bridge surfaced online. This is now leading authorities to suspect that a major power failure arose on board.

The crew featuring 22 people remains onboard and is now under questioning by the Coast Guard regarding what happened. Now, authorities are making use of Sonar to look for the vehicles that fell into the freezing water.

Among those are 20 people including workers from a leading construction company who are still missing and as time goes by, hopes are diminishing due to the freezing temperatures that make survival very difficult.
