Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are reportedly getting a divorce after making a “difficult decision” to part ways.
The 47-year-old actress and her 52-year-old producer husband issued a joint statement in which they announced their split after 12 years of marriage.
“We have some personal news to share…” they wrote.
“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”
The statement continued: “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal.
“We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy as this time – Reese and Jim.”
A source has since the news broke out confirmed that Reese and Jim remain on good terms and that their split was amicable.
“They really are the best of friends and this is such an amicable decision. They are so committed to co-parenting together. They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone,” the insider told People.
It remains unclear, however, what led the pair to take such drastic measures just months after they were pictures enjoying the festive season with their son.
Back in March 2022, Reese paid a touching tribute to her hubby on their 11th wedding anniversary.
“Happy Anniversary JT!! 11 years of adventures, love and laughter. I feel so lucky to share this wonderful life with you,” she wrote.
Later in July, she also shared sweet photos of herself and Jim as she greeted the producer on his birthday.
“Happy birthday to my sweet hubby, JT! Don’t know anyone who loves Tour de France / road biking / @arsenal / @nashvillesc / @steelers …. oh and GOLF … basically all sports more than YOU. Love you so much!” she wrote at the time.
