A mother that was taken in for delivery in the city Wuhan has given birth to an adorable little angel but there is bad news for both the mother and the child.
As soon as the mother gave birth, she was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Although she is safe and her condition is stable, just 30 hours after the baby was born, it was diagnosed with the sickness too.
The baby is in a stable condition too but because it has just been born, its immune system is not developed which could turn out to be risky.
As per the doctors, they believe that the mother was already infected with the virus and that is the reason the child has it too.
They are still struggling to find if the child developed the infection after it was born or before.
Doctors believe that there is a great chance that the virus entered the child’s body in the womb.
Media outlet of the state called Xinhua says the baby that was born at 7lbs 2oz, is in a stable condition now and is kept under continuous observation.
Wuhan Children Hospital’s chief physician Zeng Lingkong said, “this particular case has brought another way of transmission of the virus to us, the one that we were not aware of.
This means that the virus is transferable to the womb as well.”
But there are some experts who believe that the baby received the virus from its mother after it was born.
An expert said that there is a fair chance that the baby inhaled the droplets of the virus from the air as its mother coughed them.
This is a very possible situation but the doctors are yet to find the real transmitter of the disease.
