Netflix announced that the hit comedy series Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin has been renewed for a seventh and final season.
“It’s thrilling and somehow fitting, that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, will be the oldest show on Netflix,” co-creators and show runners Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris said in a statement.
“Since its premiere in 2015, Grace and Frankie has expertly and hilariously demystified the experience of growing older and given a voice to the fastest-growing segment of our population,” stated Netflix VP originals Cindy Holland.
“Jane, Lily, Sam and Martin have become role models for fans that span generations around the world, and we are so proud to have been a part of the show’s journey from day one. A special thanks to Marta, Howard, and the team at Skydance, who have been superb partners every step of the way.”
The story of the show revolves around Grace and Frankie who have been rivals but they learn that their husbands have fallen in love with each other and want to get married. The two ladies form a unique friendship after this revelation.

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin who play the role of Grace and Frankie, respectively share a great bond and have been friends for so many years.
“It was like spending time with my dear old friend,” Fonda previously told PEOPLE of working with Tomlin on the show.
“People say we have a lot of chemistry together,” Tomlin said. “It’s because we’ve been friends for so many years. It seems like we’ve known each other always.”
