Single Mother Trolled For The State Of Her Garden – Then A Kind Woman Went Out Of Her Way To Help Her


A 32-year-old single mother was trolled for the state of her garden after she asked for a garden table to buy on Facebook.

Melissa Austin, from Chorley, shared a picture of her garden asking if someone has a garden table after her table broke so she could replace it.

However, after sharing the picture of her garden, Melissa received nasty comments about the state of her garden as some trolled her for an old fence while some criticized her for not cutting grass.point 283 | 1

Melissa was left upset as she said she just asked for a table so she could buy it and wasn’t expecting the negative comments that she post received.

Melissa said: “I got some nasty comments saying my fence panels could do with painting and my grass needed cutting – I said I know that and I’m just looking for a table.”

“It was kind of upsetting at first because when you ask people for help, some people give it, some people don’t.”

But, one kind woman, Samantha Bradbury stepped in to help the single mother. Samantha went out of her way to help Melissa as she visited her house to fix the garden.

Samantha and her 13-year-old daughter, Erin, spent two-and-a-half hours fixing the garden using a lawnmower, paintbrushes, paint, and a tarpaulin.

Melissa was touched by Samantha’s kind gesture. She described her as a nice and lovely person and thanked her for taking out time to fix her garden.

She said her children are loving the garden and they can now sit and play in the garden amid lockdown.

Melissa said: “I was overwhelmed with the stuff that people wanted to do. I was very overwhelmed that this random stranger wanted to do something so generous.”

When asked about her selfless act, Samantha told that she was once a single mother and could relate to Melissa’s condition.

Samantha slammed the people who trolled Melissa for the state of her garden instead of helping the single mother.

Samantha said: “When I see a smile on someone’s face that thrills me – I’m just like that. I could tell she really appreciated it by the way she’s kept in touch.”

“I think she was in a bit of disbelief and quite humbled that someone would take the time to do that for her.”

The two women have now become friends and are in touch on Facebook.
