42-year-old Michelle Leonard had ordered breaded ham, chicken wings, wine, crisps, pastrami, and other items for her party with her three children, aged 14, 19, and 22.

But when her son Alfie discovered that there were three bags of urine with her delivery from Ocado, the mother-of-three was forced to throw all the food away.

“It was in its own carrier bag with three individual bags of urine. In the dark, I guess you just bring it in, you don’t see what’s inside,” she shared.

“It was for my birthday. You can’t go out and everything with what’s going on. It wasn’t massive amounts of shopping. It was the fact that having urine delivered with your shopping isn’t very nice at all. It’s just disgusting.”

Leonard said she believes the delivery driver could not use a public toilet because of the pandemic.

“I know the public toilets are closed, I understand that, you can’t pop into a pub or a cafe, but if you’re busy keep it with you and not with the food shopping containers where people are getting their shopping delivered,” she said.

“I don’t know if some of it spilled. If it did, we wouldn’t know what it was.”

The mother-of-three said Ocado responded to her report.

“I did ring Ocado myself straightaway and the manager ran me the next day but not until the afternoon,” Leonard said.

“They said, sorry, and we’ll take this very seriously. I asked what would be the outcome for me because I threw it all away.

“I was going to keep the bags at first because I thought they might want to test it and prove it was the driver. I thought they’d give me a better response, considering how big they are.”

The mother added: “I hope Ocado gives me an email or a text to say really sorry, and perhaps some compensation.

“It’s very appalling. Customers are going to look at that, and think do they trust drivers?

“I’ve always trusted drivers. You don’t expect that at all, obviously coming from a company that M&S use, I was just hoping for a better response.”
