Losing a child is the most devastating and heartbreaking experience any parent can face.
It leaves a void in your heart that nothing in the world could ever fill.
Child loss is like no other, you always feel like a part of you was taken. It takes such a long time for one to heal after such a tragedy.
Becky Turney, an Alaskan mother was shattered when her baby boy Triston passed away prematurely. It was such a traumatic experience.

Her little bundle of joy was gone.
Triston was a selfless, loving, generous little boy. He had a heart of gold. Before he passed away, he decided to donate his internal organs inclusive of the heart to save as many people as possible. His heart was given to someone who needed a heart transplant.
Triston had no one idea what a precious gift he had offered his parents. Despite the fact that he had died, they felt his presence. A part of him was still here on earth with them. They had something to hold onto – his heart.
It was still beating even though it wasn’t in their son’s body.
Sadly, Becky Turney and her fiancé Kelly Turney’s wedding day arrived after the death of their son Triston. He was dearly missed and they both wished he could be present on this joyous day. Becky knew in her heart that her little boy would be present on her special day, she believed her son Triston would be watching everything from above.

Before their big day, the couple had been looking into ways of incorporating Triston’s memory into their wedding ceremony. Some of the ideas they came up with and implemented were: A gorgeous bouquet adorned with his photos and a message that read, “I’m in heaven for your wedding so what shall I do? I’ll come down to Earth to spend it with you. So save me a seat, just one empty chair. You may not see me but I will be there.”
Such beautiful well thought out ideas! The Surprise! Becky’s fiancé, Kelly Turner, was a man full of surprises.
He knew how much Triston meant to his dear wife and how much she missed him, so he came up with a genius plan to surprise her on their big day. Kelly secretly planned to fly the young man who was the recipient of Triston’s heart to Alaska to be present at their wedding ceremony.
His name was Jacob Kilby. This was such a brilliant idea.
What better way to surprise his wife than having Triston her son at the wedding ceremony in the most physical way possible. One of the guests at the wedding posted on her Facebook page about the unforgettable moments at the wedding. She said that there were very few dry eyes upon the reunion of Becky and Jacob.
The guest also shared that, “I met a man named Jacob Kilby yesterday who is alive because of a heart transplant received from the bride’s son Triston.point 128 | ” The reunion made an already emotional day that much more touching.point 187 | The guests added that “Her son couldn’t be here for the wedding day but Becky‘s groom Kelly Turney surprised her by flying Jacob up to Alaska to stand in as a groomsman, carrying Triston’s heart.point 356 |
Kelly stopped the ceremony to introduce Jacob to Becky for the first time.point 62 | ”point 65 | 1
Becky, on the other hand, had no slight idea about what her sweet loving husband-to-be was about to do in the middle of the ceremony.

She was very surprised and amazed on seeing Jacob Kilby, the man who now owned her son’s heart. She also couldn’t believe what Kelly had done for her. The wedding guest revealed that she had heard Jacob share his gratitude and plans for living a healthy life to Triston’s sister just before the ceremony.
“I am so blown away by his story and his amazing outlook on life. You couldn’t ask for a better recipient to receive such a gift.” She said All the people who heard about this amazing story was equally moved by it. While Triston may not have been physically at his parents’ wedding ceremony, he was there in spirit.
