A mother-to-be was left furious after finding out the name her fiancé had picked for their incoming baby girl.
As the expectant mom revealed in her Reddit post, her boyfriend turned down all of the name suggestions she had made known after finding out they were getting a baby girl. Instead, the man kept on proposing that they should name their child Emma.
While the woman didn’t think much of her boyfriend’s chosen name at first, she definitely knew she didn’t want it for her daughter after pairing it up with her fiancé’s last name – Frost.
As the expectant mother wrote, she realized that Emma Frost is a fictional character from Marvel’s X-Men, whereas she is not willing to name her baby after a comic book character.
“My fiancé’s last name is Frost and the baby is a girl. He brought up the name Emma for her before and I thought nothing of it and said I don’t really like the name but he seemed to push and say it’s a perfect match for Frost,” the woman wrote in her post.
“I got suspicious and googled Emma Frost only to find she’s a comic book character. I told him I didn’t like how he didn’t tell me what the name was from and didn’t want to name my daughter after a comic book character.
“He got mad and went on a rant about how she’s his daughter too and he gets a say. I told him no way that name is gonna fly.
“This argument was a month ago and he has rejected every name I’ve suggested and told me he won’t agree to anything other than Emma. I think at this point he’s doing it just because he’s stubborn.”
According to the mom-to-be, the couple continues to fight about the name, whereas her boyfriend accused her of being an a-hole for not giving it a chance.
After asking fellow Redditors for advice, the woman was told she was in the right for trying to protect her daughter from being named Emma Frost.
“He shouldn’t be hoping to give his own daughter the name of one of the most overly and overtly sexualized superheroes ever,” someone wrote.
“Her name will open her up to a *lot* of inappropriate teasing from peers, and eyebrow raises from other adults that are familiar with the character,” another one said.
