The way McDonald’s customers are thinking of avoiding paper straws is involving more plastic in use.
The popular fast-food chain dumped using plastic straws and started giving paper straws to the customers which made them furious.
The customers started asking for coffee lids instead of using the paper straws which involved more plastic.
Though having the coffee lids will help the customers in drinking their cold drinks safely, but it will increase the usage of plastic. McDonald’s thought of getting paper straws to create an eco-friendly environment by cutting down plastic.
Almost 30,000 people have signed a petition which is about getting rid of the paper, and also these people boycotted the fast food chain.
Some people are happy with McDonald’s initiative to reduce the use of plastic straws.
Some people wrote in favor of the paper straws saying that why do people think coffee lids are better than plastic straws because it is still plastic while there were others, who criticized the food chain for cutting down plastic straws but giving out other plastic products like toys.
Trudy Jayne Dougherty said that there’s an alternative idea for people who have objection with the paper straws as they can open the lip and drink like proper adults.
One of the McDonald’s spokesperson said that the suppliers had made the paper straw keeping in mind that they last for at least 30 minutes and we are happy to remove the plastic to make it more eco-friendly.
People need to understand that it is essential to reduce the usage of plastic and McDonald is doing the right thing by getting rid of the plastic product and bringing in something more eco-friendly.
