When the police caught him, his dog was at the wheel.

According to the report of a Washington State Trooper, the incident took place on Sunday when the officers chased the culprit at speeds in excess of 100mph.

When they finally stopped him using a spike strip, they found a pit bull at the wheel.

Heather Axtman, one of the State Troopers who chased and caught the man, said the man told them he was teaching his dog how to drive.

In a statement to CNN, Axtman said: “He was driving very erratically. So erratically that multiple people called 911.”

A chase was started following the 911 distress calls and the driver of the said vehicle continued to drive “recklessly” throughout the whole episode.

At one point during the chase, the troopers managed to corner the car and saw a dog sitting at the wheel.

However, the driver, or the dog, was stopped before the vehicle could cause any damage to someone. Axtman said it was “nothing shy of miraculous,” that the episode ended without hurting anyone.

Axtman told CNN: “I wish I could make this up. I’ve been a trooper for almost 12 years and wow, I’ve never heard this excuse.

“I’ve been in a lot of high-speed chases, I’ve stopped a lot of cars, and never have I gotten an excuse that they were teaching their dog how to drive.”

The man in the car, who was from Lakewood Washington, was charged with hit and run, reckless endangerment, felony eluding, and driving under the influence.

If you are thinking about what happened to the doggo, she was shifted to a local animal shelter. According to trooper Axtman, she is a “very sweet girl.”

If you are thinking this is the first or the only case of a dog driving a car, that is not true.

Last November, a dog made it to headlines when the people living near a quiet cul-de-sac noticed a car going in circles with no one driving it, apparently.

The owner of the car had just parked it and went out for a moment when their dog moved to the front of the car and started driving it in an unexplainable way.

The dog and the car kept circling for a full hour before the police were able to neutralize the situation.

In a statement to a news agency, one of the people who witnessed the whole thing, Anna Sabol, said: “It was weird, I figured ‘how the heck did they manage to do that.’

“He was a better driver than a lot of them I’ve seen. Then I saw another cop car and another cop car. I laughed, I thought they should give the dog a license to drive.”
