A young man has opened up about his fears as he revealed he’s scared of using dating apps because his dad potentially fathered hundreds of children.
As 24-year-old Zave Fors revealed, he was raised by a single mom who conceived after receiving sperm from a donor.
Even though his mother told him it wouldn’t be possible for him to get to know his biological father, Zave embarked on a mission to track down the rest of his biological family, including his half-siblings, back in his teen days.
Following an Ancestry.com DNA test, the 24-year-old not only discovered who his biological father was but also went on to connect with eight of his half-siblings over the years.
Knowing that he could have dozens or even hundreds of siblings due to his father previously selling his sperm over five hundred times, however, the young man now fears dating because it could result in him matching with his biological siblings.
“Not knowing how many siblings I have has damaged my dating life. When I’m swiping around on Tinder, I don’t really know who’s related to me or not,” Zave admitted in an interview with Mirror Online.
“There will always be a specter of unknown lingering over me in intimate relationships. Short of genetically testing all of my partners, I will never have 100 percent certainty that we are not related.
“People say incest is statistically unlikely but isn’t it unlikely that I went to school with my half-brother? He was two years ahead in school. So even though people say the likelihood of accidental incest is low, I still have to live in a constant state of apprehension.”
As the 24-year-old added, his siblings have had similar experiences, whereas two of them were practically neighbors for their entire lives without knowing they were related to each other biologically speaking.
In spite of his fears, Zave is continually looking for the rest of his biological family in hopes of finding and connecting to more of his half-siblings.
