An elderly man was put inside a freezer after his family believed that he had already passed away.
74-year-old Balasubramanian Kumar from India was presumed dead by his family when he was found unresponsive at their home in Tamil Nadu.
As part of a religious ceremony, a freezer was sent to their home to stow the body.
When a staff of the freezer company arrived to pick up the icy coffin, he noticed that the elderly man was still moving.
In the video, the person holding the camera says: “His hands are trembling, how is this possible?”
His brother, Saravanan, answers: “Oh, it’s fits (seizures).” He then adds: “His soul has not left him yet.”
The incident was first reported on a local news channel Tamil and it quickly went viral.
Authorities are now investigating the family for not performing a proper medical check before pronouncing the elderly man dead.
According to The Independent, sub-inspector Rajasekaran of the Sooramangalam Police said that a case has been filed under Sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 287 (negligent conduct to endanger human life) of the Indian Penal Code.
One person commented: “And this is why, boys and girls, it’s important to go to school and get an education!”
Another wrote: “OMG, this is nightmare material. Enough seen today. Poor,poor man. Horrific. *Running to watch some sweet cat-and-dog-videos….”
A third added: “Bloody heck! This is stuff nightmares are made of.”
