A loving greyhound is still looking for a forever home more than seven years after he was found as a stray.

Stevie, Britain’s loneliest dog, has been staying at the Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury since 2013 but he still hasn’t found a family.

He was a puppy when he was first spotted wandering the streets and has spent over seven years at the Dogs Trust.

Like most greyhounds, Stevie is also described as a ‘40mph couch potato’ where he has bursts of energy before going to sleep.

The manager of the Dogs Trust, Louise Campbell, said the pooch needs a forever home with no other dogs or children.

“He is quite sociable with people, he just needs that initial introduction and once he is comfortable with you he loves you,” Louise told The Sun Online.

“He loves going in the the car, seeing new things and doing new things. When he is at home he just loves to snooze on his bed.

“He is what we call 40mph couch potatoes. He does have a medical condition where he cannot go in the heat. There is no medical treatment with that and he has a specific cool coat he wears in the summer.”

Despite the Dogs Trust being able to re-home almost 100 greyhounds since Stevie has arrived, staff were left scratching their heads over why the loving pooch hasn’t found a forever home.

“In theory he shouldn’t be a difficult dog to re-home but since he has been with us for so long it raises a few suspicions,” Louise added.

“He would need someone who has had lurcher and greyhounds before because they tend to be loyal as in once they have one they tend to stick to that breed.”

Another adorable Rottweiler named Lilly has been a resident at the Dogs Trust since 2013. She also requires a similar home to Stevie.

“You need to spend quite an extensive amount of time with her. She is really worried about new people and once she finds one person then that’s it,” Louise said.
