Animal lovers these days look for various methods to stop animal cruelty, as it is currently one of the major and serious issues across the globe.
Many shelters and homes are built so that it gives the animals a better environment to live and breathe.
However the majority of wild animals still suffer, as some of them are sold in the black market.
Out of all these animals, you will find lizards and turtles much more falling prey to such situations.
In China, animal cruelty went on to the next level, when pictures and videos were released of turtle and lizards are sold inside key chains, while staying alive.
Once these poor creatures are caught, and are placed inside tiny bags of water and made into trinkets and key chains. Such a level of cruelty has worried many animal rights activists and animal lovers across the entire globe.
How did this cruel trend come to light is not sure, but according to the reports provided by PETA, they said it all started in the year 2008.
At that time, China hosted the Olympics, and that’s where it all started. The living key chains were sold to the tourist, roughly around $1.25.
The illegal marketing of these living animals is considered to be pretty popular among the tourists, and the trade has been operated over a decade.
The sight of these poor living creatures that are trapped in these small spaces has provided enough evidence that this type of action is nothing much pure torture.
One of the worst things about China is that it does not have any regulations and rules where the rights of these animals can be protected.
Qin Xiaona, who is the director of the Capital Animal Welfare Association is an active NGO that works on the rights and safety of animals.
He also said that selling these animal key chains are known to be legal as they do not fall under the classification for the wild animals.
Since the trade of such living animals in the form of key chains has become popular, many petitions have been signed to stop them.
