It is a big day for a stray cat when some cat lover offers them food.

This Brazilian stray kitty, however, had a lot more luck. He got an actual job to justify his presence in a law firm where he used to roam around.

Leon made a lot of people angry as he used to freely roam around the Order of Attorneys of Brazil (OAB), or the Brazilian Bar Association.

People registered complaints about the cat being present in the reception area, saying that he caused general distress among the lawyers.

The response OAB gave to these complaints was the best one possible. They hired the cat and appointed him a lawyer to justify his presence on the premises.

The only lawyer cat of the globe, now named Dr. Leon, has a job at the reception where he greets visitors as they come to the place.

He even has an Instagram page dedicated to animal laws of Brazil, besides his cute actions. The Instagram account has more than 30,000 followers.

The cat lawyer’s rep told Bored Panda: “In February it rains a lot in the state of Amapá (Amazonia), so he arrived at OAB fleeing from the rain and thunder.

“For a week, he was fed and protected in a box. Until he got hired.”

The representative also told that most of the complaints about the cat were due to his small size and people were afraid of stepping on him as he came near to greet them.

“[They said] that there was no space for him because it is a serious institution. So the President [of the OAB] determined the hiring and gave him an employee badge,” the cat’s representative said.

Not just a badge, the little fellow also has a uniform tailored for him, wearing which makes him an incredibly cute little thing.

Dr. Leon also has a chance of career growth, as the OAB rep told Bored Panda: “We are finalizing the documents to launch an animal rights institute.

“It’s called Instituto Dr. Leon. Unfortunately, we cannot house all [the animals], so we will fund the NGOs in town. We will be an example for Brazil [to follow].”

In that scenario, Leon has a high chance of having his own office.

“Today, he is very dear to everyone. Even those didn’t like him got used to his presence and have fun with him. His favorite place is President Auriney’s sofa; he loves to play with his toys,” said Leon’s attorney, adding that he feasts on regular cat food.

“Two months ago Leon was neutered and is already fully recovered,” the representative added.

“But veterinarians say he had a problem with his vocal cords as a result of suffering as a baby. He hardly meows, but we keep taking care of him.

“This motivated us to create the institute to help abused and abandoned animals.”

This is however not the first instance of a cat getting a job. A cat named Rademenesa has a job at an animal shelter where he nurses sick animals.

The cat got inspiration for this work after he survived a respiratory tract complication at just 2 months old.

Not just jobs, there are examples of cats trying to step into politics also. According to Cat Time, cats like Schottish and Barsik managed to secure 91.6 per cent of the votes in an informal and non-official poll for Mayor of Barnaul, Siberia.

However, the Russians didn’t let the cats officially take part in the election.

Another such case is that of democratic cat Limberbutt McCubbins from Kentucky and furry orange Dr. Jekyll, both of which were registered to run for the president of the US.
