The new sweet meat sandwich has been launched as a test in 40 KFC franchises in areas including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Richmond.

According to a statement from the fast food chain, the product will be launched nationwide if it gets a positive response from the customers.

In the promotional photo of the latest KFC product, a piece of iconic KFC chicken can be seen sandwiched between a pair of glazed donuts.

Donut in place of bread for the sandwiches is not a new concept and has been seen over a number of fast food outlets around the globe.

However, KFC is the first major international fast food chain to launch this rather high-calorie meal which will set you back $5.99, and some calories more than your diet plan.

KFC is also offering another test deal which contains KFC’s fried chicken pieces with a couple of donuts. The combo costs between $5.49 to $7.49.

Just after KFC officially announced the launch of the new sandwich, KFC lovers took to Twitter to express how they feel about it.

The comments ranged from people planning entire road trips to grab one of them from the available locations to others calling the new product ‘horrendous.’

One person tweeted: ‘Nature’s perfect food,’ while another said: ‘Take my money!!’

Some people showed concern about the amount of carbs, sugar and fats in the new sandwich. One user wrote: ‘F**k… country just got 10 per cent fatter,’ while another said: ‘Take a shortcut to diabetes.’

Some people got as far as to accuse the fast food chain of serving something with the potential to kill their customers.

‘They’re literally trying to kill people,’ said someone on the social media, with another saying: ‘So they are trying to kill people cool cool.’

‘Do they actually intend to kill as many customers as possible? Strange business strategy,’ said an overly concerned customer.

KFC has lately been the focus of criticism due to its silly publicity attempts and this summer has seen the most of them.

Earlier in September, the fast food chain announced launching a dating simulator video game, going by the name I Love You Colonel Sanders, which they described as A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator.

The game was released on September 24 and it includes an avatar of a young Colonel Sanders.

If that’s not enough, KFC also launched Halloween costumes having a Colonel Sanders theme, available in kid and adult sizes.

Prior to that in July this year, the fast food chain arranged a contest and gave away 100 KFC ‘Picnic Polos’ shirts, enabling the winners to have a picnic wherever they are on the road.

The polo shirt had a pocket designed to contain the picnic stuff.

‘Its pocket technology holds a secret picnic blanket appropriate for any and all outdoor occasions,’ the brand explained the product.

‘When you put on the Picnic Polo, you’ll roll into National Drive-Thru Day, glide into backyard cookouts, and swagger past rolling meadows, knowing you’re the only person with the power to transform your shirt into a picnic,’ KFC said of the shirt.
